December 5, 2009.

Little Chute Invitational.  W-F had three Champions - Jerod Gruetzmacher at 112#, Dylan Hansen at 125#, and Casey Haase at 215#.  The Team placed 5th.

December 12, 2009.  Weyauwega-Fremont placed 2nd at the Akey Duals in Weyauwega.  W-F beat Stratford, Chilton, Oconto Fall R.V., and Waupaca.  The only team loss was to Shawano.


December 10, 2009.

W-F lost to a tough Campbellsport Team tonight.  Campbellsport has a number of ranked individuals.


December 3, 2009.

The 2009-2010 Season is underway.  Weyauwega-Fremont started out with a win at Wild Rose.  Conference Record is now 1 - 0.


February 20, 2010. 

A number of this year's wrestlers made the Weyauwega-Fremont All Time Career List and/or last season's All-Time Season List: 

All-Time Career Wins: Casey Haase, a Junior, is currently in 14th place with 91 career wins and only 17 losses.  Jared Gruetzmacher, a Sophomore, is currently in 28th place with 72 career wins and only 18 losses.  Dylan Hansen, a Junior, is currently in 32nd place with 69 career wins and only 45 losses.  

All-Time Season Wins:  Jared Gruetzmacher ended his Freshman year last year in 2nd place with 41 wins and only 6 losses,  Casey Haase earned 4th place with 38 wins and only 4 losses.  Last year, Casey Haase ended his Sophomore year in 32nd place with 30 wins and only 5 losses.  Dylan Hansen earned 16th place with 33 wins and only 13 losses.

All-Time Career Pins:  Casey Haase is currently in 10th place with 52 career pins.  Dylan Hansen is currently in 23rd place with 38 career pins.  Jared Gruetzmacher is currently in 28th place with 34 career pins.

All-Time Season Pins:  Casey Haase earned a tie for 2nd place with 24 pins this season.  Jared Gruetzmacher earned 12th place with 21 pins this season.   Dylan Hansen earned 19th place with 18 pins this season.  Last year, Dylan Hansen had 17 pins for 27th place.

All-Time Career Takedowns:  Casey Haase is currently in 12th place with 131 career takedowns.  Dylan Hansen is currently in 29th place with 98 takedowns.

All-Time Season Takedowns:  Casey Haase ended his Sophomore year last year in 20th place with 50 takedowns.  Casey Haase ended his Junior year this year in 26th place with 47 takedowns.  Dylan Hansen ended his Junior year this year in 30th place with 46 takedowns.

Congratulations to these three fine wrestlers.  They join an elite group of all-time great wrestlers from Weyauwega-Fremont.

December 29, 2009.  Northern Exposure Tournament in Merrill.  Many of the top teams in Wisconsin were present.  Luxemburg- Casco defeated Oconto Falls for first place by having their last wrestler come out on top during a rolling scramble in the last 15 seconds of the last match.  On the first day, W-F suffered from some injured wrestlers not being able to compete and from two wrestlers not making weight only three days after Christmas (each missed by only one tenth of a pound - about one Christmas cookie).  Weyauwega-Fremont fielded a full 14 wrestler team for the first time in a couple years during the last team meet of the second day.  All results are at www.Trackwrestling.com

February 6, 2010.  Central Wisconsin Conference Tournament.  Two Champions:  Dylan Hansen at 119# and Casey Haase at 215#.  Check it out at www.TrackWrestling.com

February 13, 2010.  WIAA Division II Regionals at Wrightstown.  W-F placed 4th as a team and will be sending four wrestlers to Sectionals at Seymour next Saturday.  Three Champions:  Dylan Hansen at 119#, Jacob Chmielewski at 189#, and Casey Haase at 215#.  Check it out at www.TrackWrestling.com



February 20, 2010.  WIAA Division II Sectionals at Seymour.  The four Sectional Qualifiers failed to qualify for State competion next weekend.  Jared Gruetzmacher finished 0 - 1, Dylan Hansen finished 0 - 2, Jacob Chmielewski finished 0 - 1, and Casey Haase finished 2 - 2 after his injury.  Congratulations to all four wrestlers.

It's also a sad feeling when a wrestling season comes to an end.  However, Weyauwega wrestlers and fans had a good season.  We look forward to next year.

March 25, 2010.  Middle School Wrestling.  The Middle School wrestling season is over.  The team was 4 - 4 in dual meets and had 14 Champions and 11 Runners-up in three tournaments.   The 2010 Season Team Awards include Most Wins:  Oliver Radtke and Brandon Loehrke tie with 19 wins; Most Takedowns:  Norberto Leyva with 36 takedowns; Most Pins: Joey Fritch with 13 pins; Most Improved:  Dan Tews; and Outstanding Wrestler:  Brandon Loehrke.  The five 8th graders that move to the high school team next year have a combined record of 78 wins and 51 losses.

March 25, 2010.  Let's catch-up with LAST year's Middle School Wrestling.  The 2009 Season Dual Meet Record was 4 - 3.  The 2009 Season Team Awards included Most Wins:  Trevor Potratz with 21 wins;  Most Takedowns:  Trevor Potratz with 34 takedowns;  Most Pins:  A tie between Trevor Potratz, Andy Pribbernow, and Nathan Stelzner with 9 pins;  Most Improved:  A tie between Michael Castro and Luke Radtke; and Outstanding Wrestler:  Trevor Potratz.  Nathan Stelzner also qualified for Youth State.
